Story time!

This week has been full of awesome experiences! Earlier this week we learned how important Role playing is!

We have come to find that when we role play consistently, we Always, have someone to teach. And there is always a spiritual prompting that we get, and it's easier to act on. We've been applying Elder Bednar's "Do I have Five Minutes?" Sister Heap has been telling lots of stories of when he came to the mission. And one is how he would frequently asked Her and President Heap, "Do I have five minutes?" And with that time  he goes and does his work. He doesn't sit down for 5 hours and do it, it's at 5 to 10 minutes at a time. We have been doing this and being more dedicated and seeing miracles and expecting miracle.

Transfers came! And we are staying! We are glad to be together still. We are at the point where we understood each other and are excited to work hard this transfer and improve in all aspects.

I've come to learn that we are on the Lord's errand, and He will put us where He wants us, if we are prepared. Sincere role plays = opportunities.

We were going to a active member's house and got out of the truck and started up the way, and had a feeling to pray. We prayed and asked to know what to do and what to say, what he needed. As we got to the door Elder Whatcott felt that the member needed a blessing. At the end of our time with the member, we told him of this experience, and he told us, "I would like a blessing. You guys are in-tune, that's cool. Thanks for being in tune. That's cool."

President Heap sent us this. I really liked it! And I hope you do too :D

"Satan knows he cannot stop the work of God but he is intent on stopping you and me in our efforts to move the work of God forward. We quote: "no unhallowed hand can stop the work of God from progressing." Persecution has raged in the past, and may rage again. Armies have assembled to try and stop God's work. But Lucifer is content in just stopping those of us who are doing our best to move God's standard forward.

President James E. Faust once taught a simple and powerful truth in connection with the account recorded in Moses 1. The encounter between Moses and Lucifer. Through that exchange Moses became fearful. President Faust; Satan is a coward. If you and I will stand our ground he will flee from us (JEF, Ensign, Sept 1995). The next part is my addition to what President Faust taught; But if you run, he will chase you until you can't run another step.

The question of how you resist Satan and his effort to thwart the work can best be answered from D&C 10:5, 12, 14 “ Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work... And, on this wise, the devil has sought to lay a cunning plan, that he may destroy this work…. Verily, I say unto you, that I will not suffer that Satan shall accomplish his evil design in this thing.” I love that God has given us His word and promise. We/you can do this!! I love you and Sister Heap and I pray for you every day.

Cake and prayers

Hey! :D so, this last week was sweet. We were prompted to make a cake. So, we did. We made a cake during lunch and also got a card and wrote a note to this Ex-communicated lady who we were teaching and had recently dropped us. So, we made her and her family a cake and a card and took it to her house but she wasn't there and we left it with her son. In the morning found this guy named C. (meaning we contacted him) and we taught him the Restoration using the Pamphlet and he loved it. It answered a lot of his questions then we committed him to be baptized and he accepted. It was great!  We had two great lessons with P and A! (I just realized that I haven't talked too much about our Investigators lately.... my bad) They are so great! I love them. They aren't married and have a little girl who is about 4 or 5 months old. We taught them the Restoration of the Gospel and the Plan of salvation. The restoration lesson was one of the best ones ever. The spirit was really strong and A. is really into it. And understands it. Ugh, I just love them.

And I wish I loved them more.

It's been a good week! I thank you for your prayers!  Prayer is super underestimated and important.

I've been so behind in posting Elder Allen's letters, sorry! I've decided to just start at his latest instead of working backwards. Thanks to all of you and your support!

We've done sooooo much this week and It's one of those things when you do a lot, but you can't really remember all of it because it went by so fast.

:D Elder Whatcott and I are doing really well! We had an awesome lesson with Y and A. They are 17 and they work at Texas Road house. Their Friend is a member and he referred them to us. It's pretty great!!

And we had a great MLC!

We had a MLC on Friday and had two representatives from Salt lake came. They were instructing on how to planing and things like that. And how to plan effectively . At first I was kinda thinking like, "well, the situations they are describing are perfect. And I'm pretty sure I've never had that." So I wasn't really too excited. But then I thought about how important it is to give your leaders Honor. Like in Mark 5. The people gave Christ honor and he was able to heal the un-healable and do mighty miracles. Tame the un-tamable man and do amazing things. Then in Mark 6 at the beginning, he goes back to his country and they don't honor him. And it says "And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them."

It's pretty crazy. So, after thinking of that. I did my best to give them honor and I ended up learning a lot more. And came out of it with  (1. a respect for them. and ( 2. An understanding of why we needed to learn that and how it will help. 

So yeah! This week was good! And we are really excited for this next week! It's going to be really nice outside! :D

I got my bike back!!

October 13th

So, this week was pretty good! I uh.... I got my bike back! :D Woot woot! So that's good! I gave the info to our ward Mission leader (Who is the biggest lawyer in town) and he knew the guy and got someone who knew him to get it back... so I have my bike back! And, It has an added accessory!  It has a kickstand! :D Wahoo! I'm not exactly sure how he got it back but hey, it's Clovis! Haha. Que mas.. oh! That same day, Elder Engstrom had some sweet acrobatics on his bike! It was pretty impressive. Most of the tricks were after he hit the ground though. He did a couple barrel rolls and things like that. He's ok, nothing to bad. Just a little bruised. So thats good!!!

We had interviews this last week as well! President Heap is the best! :D I love him. We also had a Mission wide fast for the work here to progress. And also for us to give up things that are holding us back.  I've been brought to much reflection and thought this week about what I can/need to give up. I'm working on it. He is inspired! 

D and R are going to be baptized on the 22nd!!!  I'm so excited!!  They are great!  Their parents are supportive too! :D

Meet the Mormons!

October 6th

 

So this week was good! We set D and R's Baptismal date for the 25 of October! And we are really excited! And we got 3 new investigators this week as well! They are cool! On Tuesday we went and saw the movie Meet the Mormons. We went to Lubbock and watched it as a zone! It was cool! It was at the church and President Heap got the DVD mailed to him by Church Head Quarters. So, no big deal! :D Haha, I hope that you ALL watch it! It's super duper good! :)

 And then Saturday and Sunday were the best days of the month. General Conference :D Oh yeah! They were soooo good! and I'm trying to get them onto my ipod. But, It seems to be smarter than me. So, maybe I'll send it home and see if you can get it on. I'm pretty sure that the technology has greatly improved since I've been gone, (That makes it sound like I've been gone a long time. haha).  I thought that I got the music on it and it shows up in the menu but won't play. Maybe Alice, Carter, Tanner, or Tyler in their great wisdom can persuade my ipod to co-operate.

It was Awesome!

September 29th
 

Alrighty then, So! Our Investigator "M" got Baptized! It was so cool! It was by her Husband who was less active but not anymore! He was ordained a Priest on the 21st and Baptized her last Friday. And, Haha she had to be dunked 4 times. But overall, she really felt the spirit and loved it a lot :) And the Sisters had 2 Investigators get baptized as well! They are pretty awesome.

And then! On Sunday, she was confirmed!  The spirit was so strong during the Confirmations.  During the testimonies our two or investigators D and R got up and bore their testimonies. Super awesome! R (They are both 14. I've talked with you guys about them before) told everyone how her parents don't want her to be baptized because they are Catholic. She said she really wants to be baptized,believes in it and wants to be part of the church, and she belives the Book of Mormon is true. It was awesome! 

And then D got up and told everyone that he believes Joseph Smith to be a Prophet and the Book of Mormon is true and Said "I was just going to tell the missionaries this after church, but I decided to just tell everyone". I Had no idea what he was going to say next... He said "I've been praying and I just want to be baptized as soon as possible!" My jaw just about hit the floor. And I'm sitting right behind him to share my testimony. So Naturally, everyone can see my face. Haha, and the faces of the people in the congregation were pretty awesome too! So, this weekend was pretty great! And Yeah! I'm excited for this week! GENERAL CONFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT! I'm pretty stoked. 

We are going to be working on "finding" a lot this week. I love finding. Riding around and talking to people is the best! :D I hope you all know that I love you guys! And that This Is the Kingdom of God here on the Earth. And that The Book of Mormon is true, Jesus is the Christ, and Heavenly father loves you. En El nombre de Jesuscristo, Amen.
